MEFIRS Updates December 1, 2025
Enable AI Assist in Incident List Views
The new Elite AI Dynamic Incident List is available for EMS and NERIS incident lists, offering a natural language search experience. Users can enter queries like “Find cardiac arrests from last week” and the system will automatically apply filters and display relevant results, including dynamically selected columns. This will be turned on by default.
- Your system and agency must have AI Assist turned on
- A new AI Assist Incident Lists permission object controls access to this feature. The permission will allow overrides.
- When enabled, users will see a Try AI Assist button on EMS and NERIS incident list pages. Clicking this option will load a blank page with a search box where users can type their query. Once users search, the page will display both a list of incidents meeting their criteria, and the criteria it used to search.

MEFIRS Feedback Link
The MEFIRS Feedback link is being replaced with a link to our support site. Using the support site provides for better tracking of suggestions and the ability to respond to those providing feedback.
Unit Left Destination Date/Time
The Unit Left Destination Date/Time (itTimes.004) will be enabled on the EMS Patient Care Report. This field is intended to track the date/time that the unit departs the hospital or other destination. The data element will include validation rules to require its use when a patient is transported and also to ensure the date/time entered is consistent with other dates and times within the PCR (i.e., you cannot depart the hospital prior to arriving at the hospital).
APGAR Validation Rule Update
Thank you to those of you who provided feedback on Validation rule 3766, implemented November 3, 2025. This rule resulted in flagging the APGAR (eVitals.32) field as Red and deducting 5 validation points when:
- The APGAR (eVitals.32) field is blank
- And Age Units (ePatient.16) is Minutes or Hours
- And Unit Notified by dispatch date time (eTimes.03) >=11-3-2025
- And EMS Agency Number (eResponse.01) is not 0807 (LifeFlight of Maine)
- And Type Of Service Requested (eResponse.05) is one of:
- Emergency Response (Intercept)
- Emergency Response (Mutual Aid)
- Emergency Response (Primary Response Area)
Essentially, this required every set of vitals to have an APGAR score. The rule will be replaced with a new validation rule that limits teh application of the validation rule to only when there are less than two (2) APGAR scores. Validation rule 3729 will flag the APGAR (eVitals.32) field as Red and deduct 5 validation points when:
- The APGAR (eVitals.32) field is blank
- And Age Units (ePatient.16) is Minutes or Hours
- And Unit Notified by dispatch date time (eTimes.03) >=12-1-2025
- And EMS Agency Number (eResponse.01) is not 0807 (LifeFlight of Maine)
- And Type Of Service Requested (eResponse.05) is one of:
- Emergency Response (Intercept)
- Emergency Response (Mutual Aid)
- Emergency Response (Primary Response Area)
- And the number of Vitals where APGAR (eVitals.32) is not blank is less than 2
