Learner Dress Code
To ensure Learners remain safe while in the EMS environment, they must comply with the EMS ConnectME program dress code at all times when participating in program activities.
Some agencies may have additional uniform requirements for their Learners. These requirements may be more restrictive than what is outlined below, but not less restrictive. Check with your local program leadership for more information.
Learners can also find more dress code information in the “Professionalism” element in ELO: EMS ConnectME on JMG’s GenUS Learning Exchange.
T-Shirt:
Learners are issued an EMS ConnectME t-shirt that they should wear at all times when participating in program activities. This t-shirt is especially important in differentiating Learners from licensed and professional personnel on EMS scenes.
During winter, or other instances when a Learner’s t-shirt might be covered while on an EMS scene, they should wear the EMS ConnectME safety vest as to still be recognizable.
Legwear:
Learners should wear clothing that covers both legs completely. Shorts or pants with holes in them are not allowed.
- Legwear that is ALLOWED: Tactical pants, jeans, slacks, skirts.
- When wearing a skirt, Learners must wear pants or leggings underneath to protect their skin. They should also be cautious whenever around objects that the skirt could get caught on.
- Legwear that is NOT ALLOWED: Ripped jeans, shorts, skirts without leggings or pants.
Footwear:
Learners should wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes that can protect their feet.
- Shoes that are ALLOWED: Boots, sneakers, winter boots.
- Shoes that are NOT ALLOWED: Sandals, flip-flips, high heels, barefoot.
