Does the candidate have to log roll the patient and assess the posterior thorax and buttock area?

Solution

The programmed patient will log roll themselves towards the candidate, when the candidate indicates that they would log roll the patient.  The programmed patient instructions state “Be sure to move with the candidate as he/she moves you to assess various areas of your body. For example,

after the candidate calls for you to be log rolled, please log roll towards the candidate unless he/she orders you to be moved in a different direction.”  The aforementioned programmed patient instructions allow the candidate to inspect and palpate the back without having to actually perform the log roll.
