In most cases, a candidate’s inability to complete a skill is addressed by other critical or non-critical criteria included in a skill sheet. However, there are rare instances when a candidate’s demeanor or actions cause the examiner great concern that the candidate is acting unprofessionally or incompetently, but the conduct is not otherwise addressed by other critical or non-critical criteria. Should such a situation arise and the examiner opts to check the “Failure to manage the patient as a competent EMT” then the examiner must document the candidate’s conduct or actions on the skill sheet in order to support the examiner’s decision.
